More athlete than I’ll ever be….

Paula

The latest dispatch from Roger, our Special Events Guru… (I’m tired just reading about this event!)

The Green Mountain Coffee sampling team spent several days at an event in upstate New York recently. We were on hand for the 11th annual Lake Placid Ironman competition. For the uninitiated, the Ironman is an extreme individual endurance event, at which athletes compete against the clock, each other, and themselves, in a 17-hour race made up of three stages: a 2.4 mile swim; a 112 mile bike ride; and a 26.2 mile marathon. It is the ultimate test of physical and mental conditioning, and the atmosphere surrounding the event is intense and electrifying. Our crew provided coffee for the hundreds of volunteers and thousands of athletes and spectators during the three-day expo leading up to the main event. On race day, we conducted our own marathon of sorts, as we were on-site at 4:00am, and served coffee continuously until after midnight. All told, we handed out nearly 8000 free samples during the event, and had a great time to boot.

Look out for us at two events on September 12th, the Hyannis Sprint 2 Triathlon on Cape Cod and the New England Culture Fest in Lowell, MA.

From September 18th – 20th, we’ll be at the New Hampshire Highland Games at Loon Mountain in Lincoln, NH.

I’m especially excited about a new addition to our sampling calendar this year — on October 17th and 18th, we will be sharing our delicious coffees with thousands of rowing enthusiasts at the world-famous Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston. Anyone who comes to the Green Mountain Coffee booth at that event and mentions this blog will receive a 50% discount on their free sample of coffee. :)

Hope to see you at an event sometime soon!

Roger
